Overview on the 5 days Cycling trips across Lake Victoria and Lake Mburo National Park
With the 5 days Cycling trips across Lake Victoria and Lake Mburo National Park we start from Beach House Gardens in Ggaba, Kampala, there is space for parking.
We also take a boat ride which takes around 30 minutes to get to the starting point. The ride for the first day takes like 2-3 hours depending on the level of fitness where we do like 20km – 35km. The ride for the second day takes like 4-5 hours depending still on the level of fitness and we ride to waterfalls called Ssezibwa waterfalls where we do 60/70km in total, both going and coming back. We also have to ride at the border of Lake Mburo national park where we will have chances to see wildlife.
Our driver will pick you up from the hotel at around 7:30 am in the morning and transfer you to Beach house gardens where our guide will be waiting from; we will then take a boat ride which will take like 15-25mins to get to the starting point called Buule. We will start from Buule and ride while seeing the people and the green places; we will have a stop at a trading center and have some local snacks like Rolex and soft drinks. We will then continue with our ride and end at one of the beaches where you’re going to spend a night, at this beach, there is a swimming pool, and it’s a nice place to hang out. We will have dinner at the beach and spend the night there in the good cottages.
Day 2: Ride to Ssezibwa waterfalls,
our guide will come and pick you up at the hotel at around 9 am in the morning. You will ride to Ssezibwa waterfalls (30-35km) and back (30-35km). When you get to the falls, we will have our packed lunch brought from the Beach. After lunch, you will ride back to the hotel for another night.
Very early in the morning, you will ride to Buule to get a boat that will transfer you to the beach house gardens where our driver will be waiting to transfer you to Lake Mburo, one of Uganda’s smallest National Parks. During the 4-hour drive, you will slowly see the environment changing from the busy urban area into a green and peaceful setting. On our way, you will pass the equator. There’s some time for some pictures and coffee and snacks. You will reach your accommodation around lunchtime, which you can enjoy from the terrace with a beautiful view of the park. After lunch, you will do a 20-40km ride on the borders of the park. a lot of chances to spot and see wildlife like zebra’s, Uganda kob, water bocks, warthogs. This loop will end at the accommodation where you will have diner under the tents. Sleep with the sound of roaring hippos.
Day 4: Mountain bike Ride,
on the second day, you will start cycling pretty early to be able to see as much wildlife as possible. Did you know that Lake Mburo also houses a family of giraffes? Maybe you will spot one of these majestic animals. Today’s ride will be 20-40km and tailor-made to your experience and fitness level. You will enjoy your packed lunch during the ride or to get back to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, you will get ready for an optional activity (Evening game drive).
Day 5: Transfer to Kampala on the 5th days Cycling trips across Lake Victoria and Lake Mburo National Park,
in the morning you will have breakfast at the camp and after you will have another exciting ride. If you did not get a chance to see animals you were looking for on day 4. You will have to try again to find them after you come back for lunch at the camp and after lunch, we set off to return to Kampala either to the hotel or airport.
