The name Dark Hills Uganda came from a personal journey taken by the company’s founder, Francis. Francis is a local guide who loves nature, wildlife and showing visitors the beauty of his home country Uganda. Over the years, he traveled to many parts of the country, hiking hills, walking through forests and going on safaris. But one special trip changed everything for him.
One day, Francis went dee into the hills of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. There, he saw mountain gorillas moving quietly through the thick trees. The forest was full of life, but it also felt hidden, calm, quiet and mostly untouched. It was a place many people had never seen or even heard about.
That’s when Francis realized something important: some of Uganda’s most beautiful places are still unknown to the world! These are places in the hills and forests where wild animals live, places that are not easy to reach and not often visited. He felt like these places were in the “dark”, not because they were scary or bad, but because they were unseen and waiting to be discovered. He wanted to show his beautiful Uganda to the world.
That’s how the name Dark Hills Uganda was born.
It stands for the hidden treasures of Uganda, the undiscovered hills, forests and wild places that most tourists don’t know about. The name is a reminder that there is still so much beauty to explore in this country, especially off the beaten path.
Today, Dark Hills Uganda helps people from all over the world visit these amazing places in Uganda. Whether it’s tracking mountain gorillas, hiking remote trails, cycling through villages or rafting on wild rivers, the team helps travelers discover the real, untouched side of Uganda.
