Ride 4 A Woman

This is a unique social enterprise and accommodation center located near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda. The organization was created to empower local women socially and economically, supporting those facing poverty, HIV, domestic violence, and other challenges. The name comes from its early days of renting bicycles to tourists, with proceeds going directly to support women in the community. Today, Ride 4 a Woman provides training, employment, and safe spaces for women to learn skills such as sewing, weaving, and crafting handmade products sold to visitors. Visitors can stay at the lodge, enjoy meals at the restaurant, and take part in activities while learning about local culture and supporting the organization’s mission. The center hosts over 60 women daily, providing them with meals, salaries, and a safe environment to work and grow. With over 300 members from 11 villages around Bwindi, Ride 4 a Woman also supports microfinance projects, education for children, clean water initiatives, and solar power installations for local homes.
