The park is divided into four main sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo, each offering unique gorilla families and scenery.

Visitors can also take a domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip to Kihihi for the northern sectors or Kisoro for the southern sectors. From the airstrip, it is a scenic drive of one to two hours to the park gates. A 4 by 4 vehicle is highly recommended, especially during the rainy season, to navigate forest roads comfortably.
