DOS AND DON’TS DURING GORILLA AND CHIMPANZEE TRACKING

Water: Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking can be very tiresome and you need to refill your tank as the trek goes on. It is advisable to park a few water filtrations tablets before you come for the trek.

Boots: You will need good waterproof comfortable shoes. Sometimes it rains during the trek, so skid proof shoes can come in handy.

Rain Jacket: You are advised to carry rain jacket because if rains very often in Bwindi Impenetrable forest

Snack: You can carry a light snack to give you some energy during the walk in the forest
Trouser and Shirts Bwindi forest is covered with thick undergrowth, therefore light trousers and long sleeved shirts are advised.

Socks: You will have to tuck in the trousers into the socks to avoid insects crawling inside.

Gloves: You will need Gardening gloves because you will be grabbing tree branches, leaves, name it, and some can be thorny.

Camera: Carry a good camera (no flash ) to capture this lifetime experience

6. When tracking the gorillas and chimpanzees, you should be having some level of fitness because it involves some hiking while tracking the gorillas

7. No sandals, open shoes allowed during the tracking of the gorillas, only covered shoes, hiking shoes

8. Additional accommodation on the last day can be arranged at an extra cost

9. The official currency in Uganda is Ugandan shillings. US Dollars are widely accepted which are printed after 2006.

  1. Day 1 : WELCOME TO KENYA

    Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our driver guide with high held welcoming board and after greetings and introductions departs to the city centre. You will be taken to your hotel for relaxation and overnight. Overnight stay hotel.

  2. Day 2 NAIROBI TO DAVID SHELDRICK ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE

    At 10am, you will be taken to David Sheldrick elephant orphanage, where you can feed and pet orphaned elephants, many whose mothers were felled by bullets. If that isn’t enough, “adopt” one — you can come off-hours, (only open for one hour for public 11am to 12pm), and watch the elephant keepers tuck them in and put them to bed. After lunch, you will proceed to the Bomas of Kenya to enrich your culture knowledge from the land referred to as ‘cradle of man-kind’.
    Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

  3. Day 3 ADVENTURE DAY – NAIVASHA

    After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to The Forest for a fully packed adventuring day. Situated in the heart of the Aberdare Ranges, in the Kereita Forest, this is the best place to cater for your spirit of adventure. The Forest will be the best place to hike under trees in natural grounds. Its mountainous terrain makes it good for trekking.

    Activities included are: Zip lining where you will fly on a rope and get in peace with yourself and nature, nature walk – hearing the birds and waterfalls where you connect with yourself and nature, and finally tree planting to give back to nature.

    Optional activities at extra cost can include mountain biking, archery, and horse riding. After the nature walks you will be driven to Naivasha for dinner and overnight stay at the Resort.

  4. Day 4 NAIVASHA – AMBOSELI

    After breakfast, you will be taken for a boat ride at Lake Naivasha and walk on the only crescent island in this fresh water lake in the Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha is one of the iconic UN world heritage sites.
    Later you will start your journey to our premium park in Kenya – Amboseli National Park. You will arrive in the late afternoon and have time to check in your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge.

  5. Day 5 AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

    Spend the whole day game drive in Amboseli where you can have a chance to a clear view of the famous Mt. Kilimanjaro (tallest mountain in Africa). The park is also popular for giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, lions, warthogs, giraffes, buffaloes and zebras. Birds such as pelicans, hammerkop’s and king fisher can also be found in the park. It is also frequent with millions of pink flamingoes. In the afternoon, you can opt to be taken to a Maasai Village (Optional). Dinner and overnight stay at lodge.

  6. Day 6 DEPART TO UGANDA

    After breakfast check out and you will be transferred to the Airport and take 1 hour flight to Uganda where our experienced drivers/guides will be waiting for you at Entebbe International Airport to take you to a city tour in Kampala where you will be visiting the some places like Gadafi mosque, Uganda Museum, King’s palace, Bahai temple, Kasubi tombs and many others to see, after visiting some of them, we will then go for a local dish as our lunch then transferred back to the hotel to get ready for the next day journey.

  7. Day 7 TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

    Our experience driver/guide will pick you up from the hotel early in the morning and drive to Murchison Falls National Park. When we get to the park, we shall have lunch and get ready for the afternoon game drive where you will see animals like giraffes, Hippos, Elephants and so many others.
    After the game drive, we come back to the hotel for dinner and also have briefing with the guide about the next day activities.

  8. Day 8 ACTIVITIES IN THE MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

    Very early in the morning around 5 am; we wake up, get ready for the ferry to take us for the morning game drive.
    After the morning game drive, we shall come back to the hotel for lunch, as we also get ready for the afternoon boat cruise, where you will be able to see birds like king fishers and so many beautiful bird species, animals like Hippos, crocodiles and many others.
    After the boat cruise, we shall come back to the hotel for dinner and also have a small briefing about the next long journey to fort portal.

  9. Day9 TRANSFER TO FORT PORTAL

    in the morning, our guide will pick you up from the hotel and you will be transferred to fort portal in the western Uganda region, we shall have our packed lunch from a hotel in Masindi town and then we proceed with our journey to fort portal. We shall then have a stop and have our packed lunch in a shade. We shall spend a night in fort portal town.

  10. Day10 TRANSFER TO HOT SPRINGS AND CRATER LAKES

    in the morning, after the breakfast, the guide will pick you up and drive to the hot springs, after the hot springs, we come back for lunch, and rest as we are also getting ready for the evening or afternoon crater lake walk.

  11. Day11 TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

    In the morning after breakfast, we shall start our journey to Queen Elizabeth N.P, we shall be able to see the Equator, a cement factory, Mountain Rwenzori on the way, as our plan is to have lunch from the park. When we get to the park, we get ready for the evening game drive. We shall spend a night in the park while interacting with the animals.

  12. Day12 CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

    Early in the morning after breakfast we will go for Chimpanzee tracking. after the tracking, we drive to another destination (Ishasha) where we are going to spend another night as the guide goes through the activity to get ready for the next day (game drive for the climbing lions) and other species.

  13. Day13 CLIMBING LIONS IN ISHASHA

    in the morning after breakfast, we will go for the game drive where we expect to see the climbing lions and also see other wild animals as well. After the game drive, we will immediately drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park so that we get ready for the next day activity, which is gorilla tracking. We shall spend the night at Bwindi.

  14. Day14 GORILLA TRACKING

    Early in the morning, the guide will pick you up and take you to the tracking point for Gorilla tracking, there will be briefing as you’re also given groups/tracking team, gorilla tracking might take like 8 hours to come back, you will be provided packed lunch.
    After the gorilla tracking, the guide will be waiting to take you back to the hotel to freshen up, as we also prepare to plan for departure the next day.

  15. Day 15 CROSSING THE RWANDA BORDER

    on this day, we are saying goodbye to Uganda as we are going to cross the border into another country. In Rwanda, the language changes to French, moving on the right-hand side, our guide will be able to communicate to the locals, the time also changes where it’s 1 hour behind Uganda time. We shall drive to Musanzi town, where we are going to spend the night. We shall take an evening walk in Rwanda as we interact with people as well.

  16. Day 16 VISITING THE MUHABURA RANGES

                   in the morning after breakfast, we shall set off for Muhabura ranges; also do an optional Gorilla tracking (which is a bit expensive $1500). There is also an option of riding and that’s when you have the interest. After, we shall drive back to the hotel.

  17. Day 17 DRIVE TO LAKE KIVU

    after having the breakfast in the morning, we will drive to another city in Rwanda called Karongi to the shores of the Lake Kivu. This lake separates Rwanda and Congo (DRC). There is also extraction of gas from this lake you will be able to see the machines but from a far distance. We shall spend a night at some hotels around the lake as you’re enjoying the fresh air.

  18. Day 18 DRIVE TO THE CAPITAL CITY OF RWANDA, KIGALI

    Early in the morning after breakfast, we shall be travelling to the capital city of Rwanda known as Kigali. We shall have our lunch in Kigali at one of the biggest hotels in Kigali. After lunch, we shall take a tour around Kigali city where we will be visiting places like Genocide museum, Art museum, local markets or even coffee café as per your wish.
    After the tour, the guide will hand you to the hotel to take care of you as he will be getting ready to drive back to Uganda that evening.

  19. Day 19 DRIVE TO KIGALI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

    on this day, we are saying goodbye to Rwanda; the hotel will organize the transport to the airport for free according to the time of convenience.

You have to be crazy about adventure tours to build a theme that displays the tours so elegantly that a person browsing the tours on site literally falls in love with place even before booking the tour.
